This study investigates Slovenian students' views on the application of AI technologies in language classes (Language for Specific Purposes, or LSP). An online survey involving 239 students was carried out at four main Slovenian universities. According to the findings, students often utilize AI applications like ChatGPT, Grammarly, AI Writer, Whitesonic and others to prepare assignments, enhance the quality of their writing, and acquire new knowledge. However, issues with overuse, poor critical thinking, and data accuracy still exist. There were gender inequalities, with male students utilizing AI tools more frequently than female students to prepare for tests and communicate with colleagues. According to the study, greater teacher preparation, balanced AI use in conjunction with critical thinking abilities, and defined rules for using AI into language learning curriculum are all necessary. It also emphasizes the importance of raising students’ ethical consciousness.
